The "Doktor-Schloessl" owes its name which dates back to about A.D. 1670 to His Majesty's Doctor Franz Mayr, physician in ordinary to prince archbishop Wolf-Dietrich von Raitenau and son-in-law of Santino Solari, master builder of the Salzburg cathedral.

 

The original name of the noble residence was "Radaun Castle" and was mentioned for the first time in documents dating from the year 1116.
